Academic ranking of world universities This is the academic ranking of universities, because the Shanghai Higher Institute (Shanghai Ranking Consultancy Group) wanted to organize a ranking of universities at the world level through which the best international universities are identified.



At the beginning, the classification was concerned with evaluating the level of education in Chinese universities compared to other universities in the world, to determine the value and quality of higher education in China only, but then this academic classification is become one of the most approved. international classifications, on which all the countries of the world rely to evaluate and classify universities according to academic levels.



The UNESCO Foundation brings together more than 10,000 universities around the world. This ranking focuses on evaluating these universities and identifying the best universities globally. The ranking starts with the top 2000 universities, then after review and evaluation, 1000 universities representing the best among them are selected, then they are again reviewed and rated so that the top 500 universities, colleges and higher institutes around the world be selected.



What are the Shanghai University Ranking Criteria?



As we said before, the Shanghai Classification of Universities is known as the Academic International Ranking of Universities (ARWU), and this classification is done according to many classification criteria, which are as follows:




  • 20% of the total grade awarded is attributed to the availability of Nobel Prize-winning professors or students.




  • The high pass rate of university graduates gives 10% of the total percentage.




  • Academic performance, efficiency and quality of scientific courses and study materials offered by the university, which accounts for 10% of the total.




  • Determined based on researchers for the past five years at 20%.




  • 20% is determined based on the volume of scientific research and studies published in Science magazine as well as Nature magazine.




  • Universities and scientific research in science and media 20%



It should be noted that this academic classification is the most accredited among its peers globally, but it is used to rank only the top 500 universities globally.
